Spotted Turtle

Range/Habitat: They can be found across the eastern coast of the US and the Great Lakes region. They prefer shallow aquatic habitats with lots of vegetation.
Diet: These small turtles feed on soft aquatic plants and algae as well as vertebrate and invertebrate species.
Expected Lifespan: in the wild, they can be expected to live until at least their mid 20’s some have been documented living to 50.
Fun Facts:
- They won’t grow larger than around 7 inches.
- Spotted turtles number and arrangement of spots changes with age, hatchlings have around 1 spot per scute (shell plate), adults might have 100 or more spots across their shell.
- Females lay about 3 eggs each mating season.
- They reach maturity at around age 9.
