Keeping with our acorn theme. After gathering and processing the first batch of acorns, we learned that acorns should be processed and used only when brown. And that is there “ripe” color. But if some fall early like we had from the storm you can lay them flat and let them dry/ripen. This can be done on a table or a tray. Just remember to roll them around at least once a day so they don't get moldy on the bottom a dry out evenly. It has taken about 3 days to go from all green to about 1/4 brown. As the acorns get ripe, the caps will be easier to come off or fall off on their own. You can dry and save them too for projects and decorations.
